Home 9 Prophetic Word 9 How God Responds to your Dirt with Grace

A lesson on how God responds to your dirt with grace.

When I was little, I loved to play outside in the dirt. One time, after a long day of play, I ran into the house, my cheek’s, chin and nose smeared with dirt. – smelling like the world.

My mom stopped what she was doing, took my face in the palm of her hand, and pulled out a tissue from somewhere inside her purse. She licked the cloth and wiped my dirty face until it was clean. Yuck, it wasn’t pleasant! – It never is when the stains of the world are cleansed from us.

My mom finished her task, leaving a red stained kiss upon my forehead. How God responds to your dirt with grace

Something similar happens when you come home to the Lord after wandering in the world. God attends to your brokenness, by wiping the dirt off your face with a clean white cloth.

God responds to your dirt with mercy.

He polishes your skin with anointing oil, releases glory upon you, and imprints you with the blood red, dew of His holy kiss.

Like a good mother, the all knowing God knows where you’ve been.
He saw you roaming from one mud puddle to another.
He saw the thing you thought was hidden.
He does the thing you least expect…

God responds to your dirt with grace.

Father God is waiting for you to come home, so He can receive you as a son, give you the keys to His house and reward you with the riches of your inheritance in Him.

How God responds to your dirt with graceSo come as you are to the throne of grace.

Barrel into God’s house with the mud on your feet.

Dive into his open open arms with the dirt still on your face.
And begin again…

The prodigal son

This is an incredible story of how God responds to our dirt. Luke 15:20-24 –  And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, (God always knows where you are.) his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate. (God responds to the lie of unworthiness with a signet ring,  signifying that the lost son was now was the rightful heir of the realm! God restores to him sonship identity and provision. And all of heaven celebrates. Oh what Grace! What a merciful Father we have.)

Adam and Eve

Here is another beautiful example of how God responds to our dirt. Genesis 2:4 The eyes of the two of them were opened [that is, their awareness increased], and they knew that they were naked; and they fastened fig leaves together and made themselves coverings… (Adam and Eve unsuccessfully tried to repair and cover their own sin and dirt.)

And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool [afternoon breeze] of the day, so the man and his wife hid and kept themselves hidden from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. (God’s Presence is always available to us.) Hebrews 13:5 AMP. “I will never [under any circumstances] desert you [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you [assuredly not]!” We are the ones who choose to conceal ourselves from God.

But the Lord God called to Adam, and said to him, “Where are you?”  (God knew where Adam was, but He wanted Adam to realize where he was and how he had gotten there. He was giving Adam that ahah moment that every prodigal needs – A moment of clarity.)

He (Adam) said, “I heard the sound of You [walking] in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.”  God said, “Who told you that you were naked?” (God is helping Adam understand the source of his fear, – satan, the serpent.)

The Lord God made tunics of [animal] skins for Adam and his wife and clothed them. (God takes an animal (most likely a lamb) and skins it. Skinning an animal is a bloody mess.Than He covers them in the blood soaked flesh of the lamb! Covering and atoning for their sin, great as it was. What a beautiful prophetic image!! God still offers that atonement to us through the blood of His son, Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God!

A Contrite Sinners Prayer for Pardon. Psalm 51

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your loving kindness;
According to the greatness of Your compassion blot out my transgressions.

Wash me thoroughly from my wickedness and guilt
And cleanse me from my sin.

For I am conscious of my transgressions and I acknowledge them;
My sin is always before me.

Against You, You only, have I sinned
And done that which is evil in Your sight,
So that You are justified when You speak [Your sentence]
And faultless in Your judgment.

I was brought forth in [a state of] wickedness;
In sin my mother conceived me [and from my beginning I, too, was sinful].

Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being,
And in the hidden part [of my heart] You will make me know wisdom.

Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

Make me hear joy and gladness and be satisfied;
Let the bones which You have broken rejoice.

Hide Your face from my sins
And blot out all my iniquities.

Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a right and steadfast spirit within me.

Do not cast me away from Your presence
And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

Restore to me the joy of Your salvation
And sustain me with a willing spirit.

Then I will teach transgressors Your ways,
And sinners shall be converted and return to You.

Rescue me from blood guiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation;
Then my tongue will sing joyfully of Your righteousness and Your justice.

O Lord, open my lips,
That my mouth may declare Your praise.

For You do not delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You are not pleased with burnt offering.

My [only] sacrifice [acceptable] to God is a broken spirit;
A broken and contrite heart [broken with sorrow for sin, thoroughly penitent], such, O God, You will not despise.

By Your favor do good to Zion;
May You rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.

Then will You delight in the sacrifices of righteousness,
In burnt offering and whole burnt offering;
Then young bulls will be offered on Your altar.

    Truth with tenderness! Only a loving parent would wash all our parts clean. I loved the analogy of moms red lipstick kisses to our Savior’s blood.
